4 Hidden Haunts of Seattle’s University District
Seattle’s University District has a lot more to offer than college bars! The neighborhood boasts many large, classic Craftsman and Seattle Box homes—almost all of which have private yards—and unique, inviting establishments that give the neighborhood character and color. Here are a few of our favorite recommendations for local University District businesses that might become your new favorite spot!
- Seven Coffeehouse: This cozy coffee establishment, nestled on Ravenna Ave and 21st, is a mainstay of UW students and long time Ravenna denizens both. You couldn’t ask for friendlier vibes, and because it’s part of a market you can do a little shopping while you grab your drink. It’s a great deal for drip coffee, and it’s the best spot for dog watching east of I-5 with Ravenna Park just a block away.
- Fat Ducks Deli & Bakery: If you’re an East Coast transplant who’s wondering where you can get a decent bagel in this town, look no further! Fat Ducks Deli is a small neighborhood pastry, bagel, and sandwich spot in an old craftsman home that serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner on the go. And seriously, they have the best bagels in town!
- Lucky Vintage: This funky little vintage boutique is a great place to go shopping for one-of-a-kind, high-quality throwback clothing, spanning eras from the early 20th century to the 1990s. Whether you want to be a flapper or a hip hop rapper, you’ll find what you’re looking for at Lucky and at a great price!
- Morsel: Where to begin with this one of a kind biscuit bonanza! For those of you with a sweet tooth, we recommend the Nutella-style chocolate hazelnut “fixin’” (made in house!) on a buttermilk biscuit, or if you’re wanting something more savory, get the biscuits and gravy! Sausage for you carnivores, or mushroom for animal lovers. And if you’re headed somewhere, they also have a drive-through!
